As most of you are likely well aware – much of our time (for obvious reasons) has shifted to our homes in the past few months, including our work day.  With this being said, scammers have started to use different methods of taking advantage of innocent people – with many of these tactics centered around the fact that people are stuck working from home.  How so? Good question, and if you’re not familiar with what these are, then we sure hope that means you weren’t (and won’t be either) the victim of one of these ‘2020 work from home’ scams. 

These scams attempt to take advantage of the ways that people are communicating with one another in their remote work day – meaning that virtual platforms such as Zoom, Skype and VPNs have become more common targets for scams, unfortunately. It’s important to look out for warning signs such as accounts that appear to be fake or unreliable. And of course, never give out any personal information to any person that you’re not 100% is who they say they are.  

Many scammers have been attempting to make phone calls and ask for access to Teamviewer, an application that allows others to access your computer from afar – which is also something that should be avoided at all costs.
